The Hardangervidda crossing · 12 March 2023

Our mission is to offer wounded, injured & sick (WIS) service personnel & veterans the opportunity to participate in challenging adventure which has significant benefits; aiding & enhancing their recovery, enabling them to inspire & motivate others to overcome, achieve & succeed.

Story

In March 2023 a team of 6 wounded, injured or sick (WIS) service personnel & veterans will take on the challenge of a winter crossing of Europes largest area of arctic tundra, the Hardangervidda. The Hardangervidda was made famous by Norwegian WW2 saboteurs from the SOE who thwarted Germanys attempt to build an atomic bomb by destroying the heavy-water plant in Rjukan then escaping across the Hardangervidda. The raid was immortalised by the Hollywood film, 'The Heroes of Telemark'.

The team will be raising money for 65 Degrees North who help in the rehabilitation of WIS service personnel & veterans by offering the opportunity to participate in challenging adventure. By changing the perception of physical and mental disability through the ‘Spirit of Adventure’ 65 Degrees North  aims to inspire and motivate others to overcome adversity, achieve and succeed!
