Story
On Bank Holiday Monday 31st August, at 7:30pm BST, 60 Hour Shakespeare presents Richard II, in association with Acting For Others, to raise money for theatre workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our productions have been reviewed as ‘a piece of theatrical bravura’ and featured on BBC Radio for the last two years. Following on from over a 1,000 views of the Livestream of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Richard II will stream live from 6 time-zones to YouTube, and you can register for your FREE ticket via Eventbrite!
We can't wait to see you there! Follow us on Instagram and Facebook, and subscribe to our YouTube channel, for exclusive content from the cast and theatre industry on the production!
Talking about 60 Hour Shakespeare’s support, Joel Marvin, said:
“We are delighted to be the chosen charity to be supported by 60 Hour Shakespeare.
It is inspiring to see the determination and creativity from this team, to produce live theatre, during this difficult time. It is from the generosity of our supporters and events such as these that allow us to help so many in the industry that are in desperate need. Thank you to everyone involved with this event and to everyone for donating and supporting our cause."
About Acting For Others:
In the 1960s, Laurence Olivier, together with Noël Coward and Richard Attenborough, had the idea of promoting a single annual fund-raising event for all theatrical charities.
For every successful actor, there are hundreds of performers, backstage and front-of-house theatre staff who are not so fortunate. During the last two weeks in October, every year, bucket collections are held in theatres across the country. Acting For Others will distribute funds raised across its 14 member charities to support theatre workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
About 60 Hour Shakespeare:
60 Hour Shakespeare’s mild inspiration is the rehearsal time available to actors in Shakespeare’s time. Acting companies might have had only one rehearsal before a performance and performed as many as 40 productions a year. Our company performs with professional and amateur actors from around the world, who are cast from open auditions, to raise money for charity. Previous productions include A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2020, Hamlet in 2019, and Much Ado About Nothing in 2018, which raised over £3000 for No5 Young People, Macmillan Cancer Research, and British Heart Foundation respectively.
