Story
Aching muscles, a few blisters The Team were awesome!
'Just 3 miles' became the quote but didn't work at 2am on the roads through Southampton. The replies cannot be put here - can they LCpl Yeardley! Photos on ArmyNET
The 10 runners set off from Tarrant Rushton Airfield and, unlike anything else in Normandy, experienced a unique, one off historical moment as they joined the veterans and their relatives to run across Pegasus Bridge at the same time as the Coup de Main in 1944.

Help us to help them - you never know when you may need a hero of your own.
5th Battalion The Rifles (5 RIFLES) are extremely proud to be supporting Project 65 who are in turn supporting 5 long established military charities that support soldiers and their families at any stage during their life time.
The team for the run has now been selected and you can see more on the 5 RIFLES ArmyNET site (www.armynet.mod.uk). If you could let everyone on your e-mail address book or even your Facebook list know about this site and ask them if they could donate just £5 then we can easily reach our target. Don't forget to let us have your tax too!
5 RIFLES are undertaking a number of events to raise money for Project 65. The 2 major events include sending 3 teams of soldiers, who are recently returned from Iraq, to take part in the 65 mile run to Pegasus Bridge while the wives will be jumping out of an aeroplane, representing the gliders that took part on June 6th 1944, by doing tandem freefall jumps.
The Army Benevolent Fund, the RAF Benevolent Fund, St Dunstan's (supporting blind ex-service personnel), BLESMA (helping limbless ex-service personnel) and the Royal British Legion have provided support to service personnel for nearly 80 years. Their experience of working not only with soldiers who are injured but also the families who look after them is invaluable.
For serving soldiers, such as those serving with The RIFLES, the knowledge that these charities are there to help them and their families allows them to continue on operations in Iraq and Afghanistan in the secure knowledge that the specialist care is out there for them.
Amazingly over £29,500 has been raised by the soldiers of our Battlegroup
