In January, I ran 100km for 1625 Independent People with the aim of raising £1000 to help them support the 85,000 young people who are at risk of becoming, or already are, homeless each year.
Since then, India has experienced a relentless onslaught of increasing COVID-19 cases and fatalities. Hospitals are overwhelmed and are running out of oxygen, intensive care units are almost completely full, and people are being turned away from emergency rooms due to a lack of beds. With healthcare systems under enormous strain, a huge humanitarian crisis is unfolding.
As we smashed January's target, I've decided to increase my distance and fundraising goal to raise funds to help CARE UK's incredibly dedicated team in India.
