Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Our team comprises, Glynn Roberts, Andy & Mark Nelson, Mike Prior and Jon Howes.

During World War 1 almost one million British and Colonial servicemen and women lost their lives. Amongst them were 6 professional footballers from Huddersfield Town FC.
On May 8th we will visit the cemeteries in France and Belgium where those players and their comrades are remembered. Our journey finishes with an 80 mile return ride from Zeebrugge to Huddersfield prior to the last game of the season, versus the Arsenal.

Our team are making their way from California, Cornwall, Shropshire, London and Nottingham to join another 170 cyclists in Huddersfield to complete a 300 mile bike ride and what will amount to a 15,000 mile round trip for our 5 riders alone.

Our aim is to raise in excess of £5,000 which will go directly to the Keep It Up Campaign, organised by HTFC.  50% of all funds raised are donated to the Air Ambulance and the balance is used to support local charities -  Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, Hollybank Trust and
the
Town Foundation.

These are thoroughly worthwhile causes, all of whom wouldn't be able to function without public and private donations. Your support will make this gruelling ride worthwhile and keep five ageing men very motivated !

Remember : YOUR DONATIONS WILL SAVE LIVES.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and please, please donate as much as you can afford.

Andy, Glynn, Mark, Mike and Jon.

Note that we will do the additional 18 miles prior to commencement of our ride on 7th May.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
