Story
I was diagnosed with myeloma in 2009 and it turned our life upside down. However, after high dose chemo and a stem cell transplant in 2011, I was lucky enough to get 8 years of remission before I relapsed in 2019. I had a second transplant in 2020 which lasted until now but I have unfortunately relapsed a second time.
I am very conscious of how lucky I am. I have seen many friends pass away from this terrible and incurable cancer and it is crucial that research is undertaken so that this cancer at the very least becomes a chronic condition rather than an incurable condition.
So I decided that whilst it would be hard with all the treatment that I'd need, that I'd like to have a focus. And it's back to my fundraising goals. We have already raised over £215,000 for Myeloma UK and now I'd like to add to that. My aim is to get myself, family and friends fundraising for the charity and to raise #QuarterOfAMillion before the end of my 50th year (Jan 24th 2026).
That certainly gives us some time. If you'd like to fundraise to help me with this target, all you need to do is set up a fundraising page, and then click on this link and 'join team' https://www.justgiving.com/team/Quarterofamillion. Anything you raise will then be put towards the target! Or of course, if you’d like to just make a donation, you can do so here :-) (**Want to double your impact? Inquire if your company matches your charitable donations and submit your donation information through your company's portal or HR to receive a match! Forward me your confirmation email and I can get your match added to my fundraising total!**)
Myeloma UK are an amazing charity that supports patients and families proactively whilst also funding major research into new drugs and influencing the major people in the NHS. They are one of the most amazing charities I've been lucky enough to be involved with.
Thank you in advance for helping me to do something to make a difference to all those families dealing with myeloma. Please visit www.myeloma.org.uk if you would like more info on this amazing charity.Debs xxx
