Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. We are a team of 25 family, friend’s and colleagues from Old Hall Cafe & Walks and Southwold Maize Maze. Janet was my Mother in Law and very much part of the team here at our family business. She often came to help wash up in the kitchens despite being 78 years young! She was one of life’s “live wires” but sadly passed away on 27th March 2020 after a rare degenerative illness took her in just a month. This was at the start of “lockdown” and many people didn’t get the chance to say their goodbyes. She is much missed and we wanted to take the opportunity to remember her by coming together as a team to support two charities. One is this one, Art for Cure, who raise money locally in Suffolk not only for research but also to support those who are coping with a breast cancer diagnosis and the devastating effects this can have. I was due to join AFC on a charity challenge cycle ride in November in Kerala before Covid 19 struck. Many fund raisers have been cancelled or postponed but breast cancer hasn’t changed, with roughly 55,000 new cases in the UK every year. I chose the 5000 mile target because it is roughly 5000 miles from Suffolk to Kerala. The plan is that we as a team will walk, run or cycle a combined total of 5000 miles during the month of June, all of us recording our miles on Strava or similar devices! It is an ambitious target so I hope we manage it! Janet was a very positive person and she would have believed in us all! She was very supportive of my proposed cycle challenge, 2 close family members have been through tackling a breast cancer diagnosis and so it was a charity that is close to our hearts. Thank you for your support ❤️
