Story

In July 2013, 6 Royal Engineers from 50 Field Squadron (Search) will attempt to run the length of the River Thames, from its source in Gloucestershire to the Thames Barrier, in under 30 hours.  The aim of this is to raise awareness and funds for ABF, The Soldiers’ Charity, who give fantastic lifetime support to serving and retired soldiers and their families.

There are currently 42 personnel from 50 Field Squadron (Search) deployed in Afghanistan as a part of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Search Task Force.  These men and women spend their time searching for and making safe explosive devices in order to protect the lives of both their comrades and the local population.
