Story
The Event
The idea for this fundraising event came about through wanting to break the mundane routine of Lockdown. The Challenge we are taking on is to run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours (4x4x48) Neither myself, Gareth or Adam are particularly excellent runners, I haven't run in just under a year and Gareth & Adam probably run 5-10km per week. We decided this format would test us both physically and mentally and would be a harder option than running a marathon as it brings in sleep deprivation as well. I also feel like this approach is slightly safer for me personally as I haven't done any training for it. (well this is how I'm justifying it to myself anyway). We will be starting the event at 8.00pm on Friday evening so our 4 mile attempts will start at the following times:
Run 1: 8pm Friday 12th March
Run 2: 12am Saturday 13th March
Run 3 4am Saturday 13th March
Run 4: 8am Saturday 13th March
Run 5: 12pm Saturday 13th March
Run 6: 4pm Saturday 13th March
Run 7: 8pm Saturday 13th March
Run 8: 12am Sunday 14th March
Run 9: 4am Sunday 14th March
Run 10: 8am Sunday 14th March
Run 11: 12pm Sunday 14th March
Run 12: 4pm Sunday 14th March
The Charity: Balls to cancer
Sadly cancer has effected the lives of many people we know & love in our lifetimes. This year more than ever we've realised how lucky we are to have our health. Something we maybe took for granted before lockdown is now something we treasure and celebrate.
200,000 men are diagnosed with some form of cancer every year with 80,000 dying every year. Balls to cancer is a charity that supports sufferers and their families dealing with cancer. Money we raise will help the charity fund research and events as well as offering free holidays for families going through difficult times.
