Story
2020 has proven to be an extremely challenging year for us all, hasn’t it..? I thought it couldn’t get any worse, but sadly it did…!
My family lost ‘Sally’, a Wife, Mother and Granny to us all. To me, Sally was a caring, vivacious and indefatigable lady and she is sorely missed.
Sally was ‘Granny’ to me and unfortunately passed away after a short illness exacerbated her Alzheimer’s disease. Sadly, we were unable to spend the final weeks of her life with her because of the COVID-19 restrictions in the hospital.
If you were lucky enough to have known or to have met Sally, you knew she had a caring nature, something my family will treasure forever. Therefore, I would like to dedicate this event to Alzheimer’s Research UK and more importantly, to my Granny!
My family will be targeting a massive 4000 km of physical activity over a 31-day period of which I will be completing 1000 km, SOLO! We have already come up with some imaginative ways of undergoing this
physical activity to help tick off the 4000 km. From rowing to plodding around a golf course and even horse riding is on the list. Every day I will be updating our progress on the Strava page where you can track the type of activity that we are all taking part in – wherever we are in the UK.
It is a massive motivational boost for me, having my whole family joining me in this effort to raise money for the all-important research into dementia. It also allows my family to remember ‘Sally’ – a Wife, a Mother and OUR Granny!
Any donations will be gratefully received to support this debilitating disease.
Thank you SO MUCH for your support. I’ve included all the links to the funding page, my blog to keep an update of the family challenge and most importantly what your support will help in the future
