Story
Thanks for visiting our page, we are 4 friends (Helen, Kerry, Sharon and Sorcha) who this year have decided to take on the ‘Race the Sun’ off-road challenge in September ’23 in aid of Action Medical Research. Together we have to conquer a 22mile bike loop out of Coniston, most of which is off-road, then a thigh-busting trek to the 803m summit of the ‘Old Man of Coniston’. Whilst not the highest peak in the area, the route takes us to the top in just 2.5 miles of walking so it’s a steep one and will test anyone’s endurance, definitely ours. If that wasn’t enough, the final section sees us in a pair of two-man canoes navigating a 2 mile course around the lake, all before the sun sets!!
Action Medical Research is the leading UK-wide charity, dedicated to saving and changing children’s lives through medical research. For 65 years now, they have helped pioneer ways to prevent disease and develop treatments benefitting millions of people. The research has helped beat polio in the UK, fight meningitis and prevent stillbirths, but of course without funding they cannot continue to help. As they’re research helps so many people we are delighted to be helping them with our fundraising.
Please keep an eye out on our Facebook page for some fun fundraising events taking place before September and help us, to help them, to help millions more people.
Thanks
Helen, Kerry, Sharon and Sorcha
