Story
On 21st October 2013 our lives were shattered as we were told that our beautiful little girl, Eilish, had cancer (a Wilms Tumour of the Kidney).
The next 12 months saw Eilish go through 2 surgeries, 5 chemotherapy regimes, 14 radiotherapy sessions, 7 CT scans, a bone scan and had a hickman line throughout.
Eilish's bravery was extraordinary. This bravery is represented by her "Beads of Courage" which she adored. Each bead represents a medical event - each step along her journey.
Yellows = overnight stays - Red = blood transfusions - Lime = fever or neutropenic - Blue = clinic visits and medications - White = Chemotherapy - Sparkly = Radiotherapy - Purple = infusion - Stars = surgeries - Magenta = Ambulance transfers - Light Green = scans - There are more but you get the idea...
On 13th October 2014 our brave little girl slipped away from us. The Butterfly at the end of her bead chain represents Eilish's wings.
Eilish loved collecting her beads and they make such a motivational difference for all Child Cancer sufferers. For those lucky enough to be in remission they are a wonderful representation of a brave journey.
We would like to raise enough money to keep the "Beads" going at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge where Eilish was so wonderfully looked after.
So, to this end, my 4 marathon challenge is as follows...
26th April - London Marathon (Completed in 3hr24:51)
31st May - Edinburgh Marathon (Completed in 3hr26:42)
22nd August - Reykjavik Marathon (Completed in 3hr28:17)
24th October - Snowdonia Marathon (yes that is a mountain...)
I will update this page with times achieved for each race. I am currently aiming to be sub 3:30 for each marathon (although this may prove tricky up the mountain...)
It would be lovely if you could spare some money and sponsor me but if money is tight for you then please just give some blood instead. It is free and you get tea and biscuits too... what's not to like!
