Story

I am running my first half marathon (in fact my first ever race) in October in memory of my much loved and dearly missed Grandad who was taken away too soon by MND. He was a true gentleman who cared so much about everyone who had the pleasure of being a part of his life 🧡.

I’m not a ‘runner’, I haven’t really run since lockdown when there was nothing else to do 😂. This is going to be a challenge, but nothing compared to the challenges people living with and affected by MND face every single day.  Having worked at the Association for over a year now, I have seen how much a difference the support makes and how important fundraising is to be able to provide that support. I’m so grateful to Veronika for taking on the challenge with me and so excited to cross the finish line together! 🤩

For those that don’t know, motor neurone disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting. It can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. There is no cure.

As a little training challenge, I will also be taking part in the ‘Run 60 Miles in August’ challenge.

Any donations, however big or small would be greatly appreciated 💙.
