Land's End to John O'Groats · 13 April 2019

We're dedicated to beating blood cancer. We fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page!

Some of you may or may not know, that earlier this year in July, my wife, Gillian was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (Blood Cancer).  It was a truly awful time for us as a family.  If Gill had been diagnosed with this even as little as 10 years ago, her chance of survival would've been slim.  But thanks to the fantastic research that Bloodwise and other charities have undertaken over a number of years into Chemotherapy treatment, that has changed significantly.  Although this Cancer can not currently be 'cured', the advancement of treatment means the disease can be managed to give Gill a much better quality of life, than previously expected.

We will be forever grateful to all the charities that exist to give people a better chance, and it was for that reason that we wanted to give something back.

So on 13th April 2019, myself, my 2 brothers Barry and Steve and friend Charlie Powell, have decided to take on the epic challenge that is Land's End to John O'Groats on a bike in 9 days.  None of us are particularly fit and could all do with losing a few pounds, so this is a huge challenge for us all!

We will be expected to burn over 40,000 calories, be in the saddle for 9 hours a day, and climb over 20,000 metres...the equivalent of cycling up Mt Everest twice!

I want to say a huge thank you, to my 3 fellow big lads for agreeing to do this, and for giving up their time to put in the hours of training needed to complete this.

We would be truly grateful if you could donate even a small amount of money to this hugely worthwhile Charity. The cost of the trip is being covered completely by ourselves, so 100% of any donation that you make will go straight to the Bloodwise charity.

Thank you again for taking the time to visit our page.
