Story
Marie and Rachael are raising money for Cure Leukaemia by taking on a 42 mile Midlands Velo bike ride challenge in May 2019. Around 12,000 people a year die from blood cancers in Britain. The prospect of survival for many adults with blood cancers is still less than 50%.
Marie was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukaemia in 2016, and after rounds of chemotherapy, total body irradiation and a cord blood stem cell transplant, she has now decided to get on the saddle to raise vital funds for Cure Leukaemia.
The charity works tirelessly to give patients access to ground breaking new treatments which may not be available otherwise. Money also goes towards new treatment facilities and funding specialist nurses (who provided support and guidance to Marie when she needed it most). A specialist nurse costs £40,000 per year to fund and by funding more nurses we can potentially save more lives.
Marie and Rach are newbie riders, and they are trying their hardest to stay on their bikes and get some training in without falling off!! Your valuable donations will help them to stay upright, but most importantly will be providing 1000's of other patients with prospects that were not available previously. They will do their best (even if it means dragging the bikes over the finish line!)
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
