We wanted to thank everyone on the BG FLE Project on the Armada platform who very kindly donated their Safety Performance Award to this very deserving charity. The total sum donated is £4,666 and this not only goes a long way thelping us achieve our target it is money that can be used to great advantage.

I would also like to thank Lewis Affleck who is the Vice President of BG Groups UK Upstream as he kindly donated an additional £1,000 towards our target of £20,000.

Just a quick intro into the two nutters that plan to attempt this little venture and why we are doing it. 

We are Simon Maryan & Jason Dobbs and we are both ex-Royal Marines. There has been a lot of discussion between the two of us as to the need to do something extreme and we thought that in the process we could do something constructive and proactive towards our former colleagues in Her Majesty's Armed Forces. In the end we came up with the idea of ascending the 3 highest peaks in the UK on bike and on foot in the fastest time possible, so, we decided that 48 hours seemed like a reasonable starter for 10.

In true Royal Marine style we intend to try this little feat of endurance in December 2009, there is no point in making it too easy after all, and considering the amount of pain that some of our service personnel go through this will be a walk in the park in comparison. This is obviously going to be weather dependant but we will aim to complete the event in the 48 hours.

We have had several friends that have been killed in Iraq & Afghanistan and if we can contribute in some small way to providing a better quality of life to the injured that come home and to the families of the those that sadly don't make it, then it can only be a good thing in our eyes.

On that note we ask you all to dig as deep as you feel you can and help those that help us.
