Story
In March this year my Uncle, Phil Armstrong, passed away after a short battle with prostate cancer. In his final months he was treated with care, compassion and dignity by the amazing staff at the LOROS hospice in Leicester, so in his honour and to help contribute to the funding of LOROS we would like to ask for any sponsorship however small (or large!), towards our attempt on cracking the 3 Peaks Challenge.
For those who don’t know what the 3 Peaks Challenge is, it involves climbing the 3 highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales within 24hrs. That’s 23 miles (37km) of walking, and a total ascent of 3064 metres (10,052ft), with 462 miles of driving in between. Taking on this challenge with me will be Stacey, Tom, Bev, Sam, Caroline, plus my Dad, Rob and Pete as our dedicated support crew - aka The Drivers).
More about LOROs:
LOROs as a charitable organisation costs £7.7million a year to run of which £5million has to be funded by the kindness and generosity of charitable donations each and every year!
LOROS is a charity whose aim is to enhance the quality of life of adult patients with cancer, progressive neurological conditions and end-stage organ failure for whom curative treatment is no longer possible. Patients are treated at the Hospice and in the community based upon clinical need, regardless of background and the ability to pay.
