Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving Page.

Devizes to Chelsea on a home made raft with only three paddles and our optimism. 120miles (approx) and 77 locks, we must be mental!

We’re taking on this challenge in memory of Charles’ Dad who was diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme in February out of the blue, he lost his fight in May. We’ll be raising funds for St Catherine’s Hospice, a local charity who were brilliant in caring for Rob.

For Charles, his mum and his three sisters, Rob was an irreplaceable husband, father and role model who was dearly loved and is sorely missed by all the family. Rob would be the first to both condemn this raft trip as crazy, as well as grab a paddle and join in.

Our raft is very much a work in progress, with a max budget of £100.  With just a week to go we currently have floorboards screwed onto a wooden frame with 6 old agricultural barrels providing the buoyancy.

We are fundraising for St Catherine’s Hospice in Crawley; a local charity with big ambition. St Catherine’s vision is for a world where everyone facing death and bereavement can do so informed, supported and pain free. Their team of experts are there for people in West Sussex and East Surrey when they need support the most, and they rely on donations to be able to offer their pioneering care.

Please donate today and help St Catherine’s be there for people when life comes full circle.
