Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you may know, my mam passed away with MND in 2006 and I have been running since then to raise money for and awareness of the Motor Neurone Disease Association. They do phenomenal work to try to find a treatment for MND, an awful disease which leaves the sufferer not being able to move, talk or swallow but still fully aware of their situation. Currently there is no treatment and no cure. The average survival after diagnosis is 14 months. Horrendous disease. The MNDA provide support, equipment loans to make the quality of life better, and in the background ongoing research so that hopefully, one day, the world will be free of this cruel disease.
My training has been really difficult this year - with a new job I've had little time to do it and was going to only do the Great North Run on 15th September. However, I've seen such determination both in mam and other MND sufferers to live life to the full and carry on, that I think it would be doing a disservice to only complete one because of a lame training excuse. So I'm doing 3 again - the Great North Run (Sept 15th), the Great Eastern Run (Oct 13th) and the Great Birmingham Run (Oct 20th). If you can afford a little sponsorship money, every penny counts towards a better life for those with MND - and hopefully, in future, a life without it.
