Story
Thanks for visiting, and for considering a donation!
365 Days of Nigella has been devised, by me, to provide a much-needed escape from the worries of living with anxiety and the complexities that they can bring to daily life. It’s a 365-day Nigella cookalong that will diversify our household palate and, at the same time, grant me the avenue to express my passion for food and write about the memories that it can evoke.
It really began as a personal journey - a coping mechanism for dealing with my anxiety - that perhaps only I, and my household, would benefit from in the long run (although I do hope you find some pleasure in following it too). While it still remains so, I now realise there is also an opportunity to share a bigger story by raising awareness of an issue that is far too rife in our country and, indeed, the world.
I hate food waste. Even the thought of throwing away a forgotten mouldy mushroom that you find at the back of the fridge saddens me. So, I am using this cookalong and the attention it might attract to also increase awareness of food waste and hunger issues in the UK, by raising funds for FareShare; a UK charity fighting hunger and food waste, saving good food from going to waste and redistributing it to frontline charities.
I will be donating a minimum of £20 of the money I save each month - through better meal planning in this cookalong - for the duration that this challenge lasts, which will be more than 12 months if I stick to 3-4 entries per week.
I worry it may seem inappropriate to ask for donations to fight hunger via a food blog, but it is not my intention to be insensitive or cause upset. However, if you would like to contribute - that would be very much appreciated. I will also try to come up with other fundraising events throughout the duration to help meet our target - perhaps when gatherings are allowed again!
Donations go straight to FareShare, not my pocket.
