I have set myself the challenge this year of visiting every country in Europe I have not yet been to. Seeing as I have a full time job reading for my doctorate in advanced snowboard design the only way of really achieving this is in one big summer road trip while the lab I work in is closed.
When I looked at the grand scale of the task ahead I realised that it was quite a feat and someone somewhere surely would want to sponsor me to do this? So I decided to approach the Bath RUH Space to Grow Campaign which is raising £4.7million pounds for a new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to do it on their behalf as my Nephew Justin was cared for there when he arrived very early at 30weeks Gestation.
I estimate the trip is going to cost me about £2000 to complete (all self funded of course) and I aim to equal that total with charity donations from people which equates to the care of just one baby for two days in NICU.
I'll be doing other fundraising events and seeking commercial sponsorship for the trip as well including selling space on the car for advertising if I can.
I am not doing this trip alone I am also doing it with my Friend Dale Knaggs who is raising money themselves for Cancer Research UK.
The countries we plan to visit during the road trip are as follows: UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine, Moldova, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Monetenegro, Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, San Marino, Monaco, Switzerland, Leichenstine, Austria, Luxembourg.
We've decided to aim for a total of 34 but will be happy we have completed the challenge if we manage over 28 countries as thats one a day and allows for some contingency in our plan.
We're going to be setting up a website at www.34countries28days.co.uk where you can follow our progress and see how you can make a donation to the other charities we are doing this trip in aid of.
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Royal United Hospital Charitable Fund gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
