Story
Our 9 yr old daughter, Alexa, has a rare eye condition called Brittle Cornea Syndrome, for which there is no cure. This means she has gradually lost almost all of her eye sight and some of her hearing. There is a high probability Alexa will go completely blind.
Research shows that in the UK "90% of those who have lost their sight in youth wont work for more than 6 months of their adult lives"
This stat is scary and needs to change! We want to raise awareness of this issue and raise as much money as possible along the way. Please share this info, this page, open conversations about it as it all helps!
We're taking on this challenge in aid of national charity Royal Society for Blind Children (RSBC) because they are paving the way to change negative attitudes to sight loss. They help children and young adults with Visual impairment to gain the skills ands confidence to go out in the world, to secure the jobs they want and live beyond their sight loss. The charity offers dedicated, one to one emotional and practical support, workshops, activities and more. RSBC desperately needs more funding to carry out the life changing work they do.
If you want to take a look at Alexa's story, CBBC have made a great documentary about her life, link below:

So to raise awareness and some money, my mates and I are going to climb the 3 highest mountains in the Scotland, Wales and England, within 24 hours - with me completely blindfolded throughout the challenge. The total hike is estimated at 44 km (27 mi), with a total ascent of 9,800 feet. Google maps depicts the driving time as 10h45m.
A special Thank you to Acorn Homes and Winterflood Securities for their generosity and kicking us off!
Thanks for all your support and share this wherever you can to raise awareness and some cash - you really are making a difference!
