Friends,
I hope you and all of your loved ones are safe and healthy during this lingering health crisis.
First and foremost, thank you for your past and continued support of Charleston Animal Society.
I need your help – here is some background…
This year was supposed to be a milestone anniversary (20 years!) of Charleston Animal Society’s famous Chili Cook-Off, the largest animal event in SC and one of the largest nonprofit events in the region with over 6,000 participants; however, we cancelled the in-person event due to COVID. In fact, we had to cancel all of our in-person events this year because of the restrictions on crowds. That put us in a bind (events raise over $1M annually for us), but we’ve worked around the clock every day, with much fewer staff, because there is no way we’re giving up on the animals!
We’ve even deployed multiple times to rescue animals across the southeast during this historical hurricane season.
So, even though we cancelled the in-person Chili Cook-off, we’ve reimagined it as a virtual event with the help of Brandon McMillan (star of Lucky Dog TV series on CBS), Hallmark Channel, wonderful sponsors and phenomenal animal lovers like YOU (https://youtu.be/g6pxzFrczWA). Normally, the event takes 12 months of preparation; however, this year, we’re pulling it together in less than three months. The event will be held as a Facebook Live event from 5:00p – 7:00p on Saturday, November 21st. https://www.facebook.com/events/2704886826281043
I formed my chili team (3 AMIGOS) again this year for the virtual event and have a goal of $40,000 (or more) to go to Toby’s Fund, our medical fund for the nearly 20,000 ill, injured, abused and homeless animals we care for each year. I’m personally matching donations up to a total of $5,000.
Can I count on you to join me in donating to this cause? My team page for support is https://chili.charlestonanimalsociety.org/.../3-amigos2020 (but we can take pledges, checks, etc. in support).
Thank you very much for considering this and, again, I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy.
Best,
Joe
