We promote choosing smaller families to reduce human pressure on our environment

Story

My charity is www.populationmatters.org because of the ever greater urgency to reduce both our environmental footprints and the number of feet - ie the number of humans doing the footprinting - through voluntary contraception. This will be a competition between cycling (me on my Brompton & others), running (my son Dr Chris Guillebaud & others), London Underground and a car. We will finish at Kew where is buried the eco-timecapsule that is based on the saying "we have not inherited the earth from our grandparents, we have borrowed it from our grandchildren". In 1994 we saw how angry they will be if we irreversibly wreck their loan....So we said “sorry” to them, two generations later. But, even more important, we intend that finders of the timecapsule in 2044 will wonder why we apologised!           Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Population is one of the most important but neglected contributors to many of the problems facing us today - our environmental crises and quality of life. We promote positive, choice-based solutions that improve women's rights and enable everyone to choose a smaller family - for people and planet.
