Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Our 7 year old son Lincoln has scan negative diplegia cerebral palsy which means that he has weakness and stiffness in the leg muscles, he can only walk short distances, is unsteady, often falls, fatigues easily. He also experiences muscle spasms and, although he has a high pain threshold, lives daily with pain. This surgery can give him the independence to selfcare, not live in pain, get around more, do more, achieve his full potential and, with his attitude, the sky is the limit. You can help change his life!
He needs SDR surgery. Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) is a surgical procedure that aims to reduce spasticity in the lower limbs. Spasticity is the result of an abnormal communication between the brain and the nerves. SDR is effective in treating spasticity by cutting the nerve rootlets in the spinal canal that are sending abnormal signals to the muscle. In Lincoln’s case it is not funded through the NHS and we need to raise £22,000 to enable him to have the procedure and the intensive month long physio recovery post op.
We, Sarah and Simon, Mum and Dad to Lincoln are running the two Castles, a 10k run from Warwick Castle to Kenilworth Castle. Running does not come easy to us and we are running each step for Lincoln. Any aches and pains paling in comparison to the aches and pains Lincoln experiences.
This Just Giving page is associated with his overall fundraising. Each donation, no matter how small is helping us get ever closer. To read his full story visit the main page. Over the Summer there will be various challenges and events. Help us if you can. Thank you.
