We train rural health workers to provide emergency dental care

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page for Bridge2Aid.

I am currently furloughed from my role as Fundraising Executive at Bridge2Aid. Feeling pretty useless at home I wanted to make a difference to the charity I still feel very passionate about. Through several weeks of catching up on life at home, reengaging with my inner thoughts and soul searching, I feel it's time to really challenge my body. What better way to commit to this than to fundraise for a charity that provides emergency dental training for government-employed health workers in Tanzania and Malawi.

For the #twopointsixchallenge I will be completing 1 full hour of intense workout for 26 days. This will be on top of 3 miles I walk with Mia daily. As someone who doesn't work out, EVER, this is a daunting task. Yes, I might do the odd stretch and calm yoga routine but nothing like this. For an example work out that I will be completing follow Nicole Winhoffer's 21 day challenge on Instagram LIVE at 12pm EST time daily. Day 1 was completed yesterday, and I'm currently very sore! I will continue this workout to the end of the 21 day challenge and then find some equally difficult workout for the 8 remaining days (I joined on day 4).

Also as a fun thing for me and my niece Edie Wheelhouse-Watts to do together during lockdown, we'll also be putting together a 2.6 Family Quiz for our extended family to enjoy and to help promote the charity. Once we've built we can share with those who would like to use it. Please give what you can and I'll send over the quiz. Please register interest for the quiz by emailing me at blackandwhitestripe@hotmail.com.

Why Bridge2Aid?

We all know how debilitating tooth pain can be. In the UK we can access emergency dental treatment as easy as we can get an appointment at our local GP practice. In rural Africa, and in particular, rural Tanzania and rural Malawi access to a dentist is rare and expensive due to the distance you may have to travel. Some people living in rural Tanzania are more likely to put up with the pain for months and sometimes years as this becomes the easier option.

Please help us at this time so we can quickly recover from this crisis and return to our beneficiaries as soon as we possibly can. Bridge2Aid to taking every measure to make sure that we can survive and return to our work as soon as possible. We need your support now. We hope to bounce back and continue to help those in need.

Thanks so much for your support!!
