Story
Hi! I'm Jack,
In 2017, I created my first 24-Hour Gameathon with a small group of friends. The goal was to raise £250 for Children In Need. The challenge of the Gameathon was to play a variety of different board games & electronic games for 24 hours in my living room. It was more challenging than we originally thought but we stuck together and dug deep during the early hours. Unbelievably, we blew our original target out of the water and managed to raise £867.09p!
From that day forward, The 24 GT was born. In 2018 I recruited more gamers to join the team and collectively we raised a fantastic £1918.28p! In 2019, the team had grown even more and there was now 16 of us! We had outgrown the living room so we had to hire the local village hall. That year we had more structure, more games, more tech and were even more determined to raise a great amount for Children In Need.....and we did, a whopping £3002.83p! Unfortunately, the pandemic in 2020 meant we could not arrange the Gameathon for that year. However, we have now had time to recharge our game controller batteries and are ready for a successful 2021!
The date has been set and the venue is booked! Meet the 2021 Team - Jack Careem, Charlie Williams, Finley Hampson, Ivan Barnes, Ben Miles-Graham, Luke Stevenson, Joseph Stevenson, Daniel Bookbinder, George White, Benjamin Mercado, Beau Casey, Jake Racher, Harvey Carter, Daniel Batchelet, Kiera McGilley, Ben Springett, Owen Barnett, Zephyr MacGregor & Milo Nizzardi.
Taking part in a 24-Hour Gameathon is a great experience, a bit exhausting but is also challenging. Before the event its so important that we ask people to sponsor us so we can raise money for a charity that I am very passionate about. Since creating the 24 GT, I have learned a lot about Children In Need and how they support children that are faced with challenges. Whether someone has a life changing disability or illness, a battle against mental ill health or struggles with poverty, Children In Need don't turn a blind eye to anyone. That's why each year we relentlessly ask family, friends and anyone who knows us to help by sponsoring us to complete the Gameathon. Over the last few years it has been down to their generosity and our determination that we have raised a huge grand total of £5788.20p for Children In Need! From the money raised, we hope that we have in some way, helped to give a child a better life. #WE DO IT, SO THEY CAN. By doing something as simple as playing games, we can hope that one day these children can play too!

Update: The date of the Gameathon has been changed to SATURDAY 13th NOVEMBER 2021. We had to reschedule because I unfortunately tested positive for Covid. Disappointed is an understatement but moving the date does mean we have more time to keep fundraising. It's definitely GAME ON!
