We help veterans and their families to live the life they deserve after service

Story

One ex-Booty (Royal Marine Commando), 5 ex-pongo's including 3 Paratroopers plus a few mad, but more than capable civvies are taking on a challenge that has never been done before. The 20 highest peaks in Wales....... in 48 hours. Why? We're helping to raise funds for the excellent Help for Heroes charity who's job it is to support the injured servicemen and women of the British Armed Forces. We understand that people are bombarded all the time for more and more donations but this is a superb cause and every little bit helps. Thank you very, very much for your support. And please don't forget to add GIFT AID during your donation! The government then pay back some of the tax you've already paid on top of the donation. It makes a huge difference.

Here are a few of the projects Help for Heroes have funded so far:

£8M helping to provide the new swimming pool and gym complex at DMRC Headley Court

£10M to help pay for the new Army Recovery Centres that will provide a “launchpad” to life for seriously wounded or long term sick soldiers, supporting them as they make the transition to a fulfilling future.

£3.5M to Combat Stress, the charity that helps veterans with mental wounds. The money will be used to pay for the much needed expansion, modernisation and reorganisation of their specialist treatment centre.

The current ongoing project is the Army Recovery Centres that will be popping up all over the country thanks to Help for Heroes. Soldiers who are wounded in the service of their country currently receive excellent medical care, notably the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine (RCDM) and the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) at Headley Court.

However it is once the soldier has stopped being an ‘inpatient’ that problems can arise.

Most wounded soldiers are able to return to their homes, but not all families can provide the level of support, supervision and care needed to help someone who has a serious injury.

And although it is hoped that every soldier wounded in the service of their country will be able to return to duty, there will be many who leave the services. It is important that they receive assistance and guidance in this, enabling them to make a smooth transition to a skilled and supported civilian life.
