Story
As some of you may already know, our Mum was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September 2014.
After the initial shock of it all, Mum coped marvellously taking chemotherapy then radiotherapy all in her stride. She had bad days obviously but I've never seen anyone pick themselves up and keep fighting on as much as our Mum did.
For 2 years there were ups and downs, periods of her feeling ok for her then to get another infection and be hospitalised, fight it off, build back up then start all over again but eventually Mum got tired, she was exhausted by it all.
The last infection she got was a rare and serious one. It set up camp in her liver and caused her so much pain and sickness that she decided in November 2016 she'd like to be looked after at Arthur Rank Hospice and not receive any more treatment. This was a hard decision for everyone but one we all respected. Mum was quite simply tired of it all.
We had one last Christmas with Mum before she passed away on January 19th. We are all so grateful for the time we had without mum being in pain and that was due to Arthur Rank. They sorted out her pain quickly and kept her comfortable without making her too groggy. We got to make so many more precious memories and because of that we'd like to give something back to them for helping Mum and all her family and friends during that very difficult time.
Arthur Rank are totally charity run so we'd like to achieve a target of £10,000 to help many other families.
