Story
Can you see the sea? 200 miles cycling in a day.... 22nd September 2017
Milla
In December 2016, my amazing, brave, beautiful daughter, Milla, passed away unexpectedly. She was 10 and a half, full of smiles and laughter. Milla was born 16 weeks prematurely and had severe cerebral palsy. She was in a wheelchair, unable to talk and had to be fed through a stomach tube. But....
Milla was always smiling. Every day was a day that Milla inspired me. Her determination, her gentle personality. She communicated so much without talking. She gave us such joy and love. She made a massive impact on everyone who met her. Milla lived a lifetime of smiles. We miss her so much.
The Challenge
I live in Worcester, but have relatives who live in Eastbourne, next to the sea. In 2015, Milla enjoyed a lovely family holiday in Eastbourne with her twin sister Louisa, her Mum Rini and myself; spending time on the beach, on Eastbourne pier, strolls along the promenade and tastes of her favourite vanilla ice cream.
I have raised over £32,000 for four charities since 2007. Make A Wish has remained close to our hearts since they granted Milla a wish to go to Disneyland. We had a wonderful week in Florida in 2012. I have cycled from John O'Groats to Lands End, run the London Marathon and written 2 cookbooks raising money for Make A Wish. Having seen the happiness the wish brought Milla and Louisa, I promised I would continue to raise money for Make A Wish. I want other children like Milla to enjoy their wish and most importantly be children, having fun and forgetting their pain, discomfort, disability or illness.
200 miles to the sea....
Worcester to Eastbourne. By bicycle. 200 miles.
In a day.
I have cycled 1,000 miles in 10 days, 125 miles in one day...but as yet not 200 miles in a day. That is the challenge. Setting off before dawn and heading for the sea...200 miles - a huge challenge.
But I want to do this so I can reach Eastbourne and stand by the sea where Milla was so happy. To remember her and to do as Milla always did; smile.
If you can help by donating I will be very grateful;
Thank you,
