Story
Starting from Westhope, Shropshire, on the 11th September, Myself (Dave Price) & friend Dave Lewis will cycle south to lands end before retracing our route north again back up through Shropshire, continuing north to the most northerly part of mainland Britain, John O’Groats. From there we will turn south back to Shropshire where the ride will finish, thus cycling the length of the country twice.
We will travel un-supported, carrying luggage on the bikes and stop at youth hostels & B&B’s. The ride will be approximately 1700 miles & we have 20 days to complete it in, therefore we will need to average 90 miles a day for almost three weeks!
We want to raise at least £1200 for Air Ambulance. This amount is the cost of the average rescue mission the Air Ambulance flies. They do not get any government funding & solely rely on private funding.
I was fortunate enough to be rescued by the Air Ambulance when he had a major crash at a mountain bike event in south Wales in 2007, and have supported their cause ever since. Thanks to the quick response time only achievable by the Air Ambulance, I was transported to life saving treatment within minutes.
