Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Those of you visited and donated to our cause last year will know why we are doing this. And just a quick thank you to you all, we raised over £2000 in total! To those of you who didn't and are hearing about this for the first time, read on.....
Back in the early 70's, my dad (the above mentioned Pete Walker) was severely injured in an IED attack whilst on active service in Northern Ireland. Of all the injuries he received (and to list them all here would require more space than we are given!), the most debilitating and life changing was the almost total loss - around 70-80% - of his eyesight.
Blind Veterans UK (St. Dunstans as they known then) were on hand to help dad with all parts of his rehab but mostly they helped him come to terms, and to deal with his loss of vision.
As a result of this, they have been a constant presence in our lives and continue to help and support dad in learning new skills, and sometimes re-developing old ones.
As a thank you to Blind Vets UK, we are walking 100km from London to Brighton to raise money to help them get the aid and support to other UK Forces Veterans that have, for one or other reason, found their lives changed by their loss of sight.
Thank you all.
