1st At-Taqwa Scouts are doing The Great Indoors Hike to the Moon. Please support our page by donating here.
"One small step for man; one giant leap for mankind"
Beavers, Cubs and Scouts are going on a #HikeToTheMoon! Young people, families, and volunteers like us are hiking at least a mile at home, donating, and supporting those who need it most with BBC Children in Need and Comic Relief.
All you need to do is hike a mile at home and make a donation – together, our miles will add up to one giant leap that supports the people who need it most.
On Thursday 23 April 2020, BBC Children in Need and Comic Relief are getting together for the "Big Day In" (on radio), and the "Big Night In" on BBC1 from 7pm. They’ll celebrate the people making a difference across the UK and fundraise to support the people most affected by the coronavirus crisis.
Why are we, at 1st At-Taqwa Scouts doing this?
One of the things we promise to do as Scouts is help other people. By taking action and raising funds for The Big Night In, we’re helping people in our communities when they need it most.
Of course, if we haven’t reached the Moon by 23 April, then we’ll keep going after the show (because Scouts don’t give up easily).
Did you know? Eleven of the twelve people who’ve walked on the Moon were Scouts. It’s where we feel most comfortable (second to Earth).
The what and the how bit!
We’ve come up with a way for Scouts to get involved too. We’re asking young people, volunteers, parents, and carers to hike just one mile each – we’ve done the maths, and it’s about 2,000 steps or 20 minutes walking on the spot. You can hike around your home, stairs or garden (if you’re lucky enough to have one) but please be safe and follow government advice – you don’t need to leave your home to take part.
Record your mile/s on the link below.

It would be ever so great to see everyone in your family take part, even if they're not in scouts. Don't forget to post pictures either by email or by posting to Facebook.
Also perfect timing for children to keep an eye out for the RAMADAN MOON!

PS – Don’t forget to have fun
