Story

The recent pandemic stopped many of the annual fundraising events that 1st Olney Scouts rely on to provide activities and camps for our 80 members of all ages.

To help cover some of this shortfall our Beaver, Cub and Scout troops will all be taking part in a “Lappathon” on Monday 2nd May to see how many laps of Emberton park they can complete in 2 hours. The loop at Emberton Park is 1.8 miles long so this is quite a challenge. They are able to choose how they do this, Walking, Jogging, Running, Cycling or By Scooter.

For this event we have chosen to donate 50% of the proceeds to Willen Hospice, to recognise the support and care they provided to Ann Murtagh through her battle with Cancer.

Ann was a Scout Leader in Olney for 20 years (we need to check this number), and was our Group Scout Leader for the last 2 years.

Sadly Ann passed away earlier this year.
