Story
The Hughes Family are taking on the One Million Steps Challenge for One In A Million to raise funds for this fantastic Bradford based children and young person’s charity. Over the last 15 years we have seen first hand how they have transformed the lives of so many children and young people living in disadvantaged wards of Bradford. Children are at the heart of all they do and we wanted to play our part by fundraising for a worthy cause!
Such a challenge will also provide personal benefits for our family including improving our own physical health and mental wellbeing!

One In A Million is a Bradford based charity that uses Sports, the Arts and Enterprise to engage, enrich and enhance children and young people living in predominantly disadvantaged wards of our city. Our ‘Hub and Spoke’ model enables us to use formal and informal education as a delivery mechanism to break the cycles of deprivation over their young lives, valuing and celebrating their uniqueness, and letting them know they are ‘one in a million’.
Our passion is to make a difference to our city. We work with parts of Bradford, which fall within the top 1% of national deprivation.
Our motivation is to help change the negative statistics that hover over children and young people so that they can thrive socially, educationally and in their wellbeing.
Our goal is to improve children and young people’s wellbeing, skills, confidence and self-esteem through activities delivered in a fun and safe environment.
Our hope is to install young people with skills, confidence and knowledge, providing progression pathways into employment, education and training.
Our Values are compassion, honesty, integrity and excellence.
