Going the Extra Mile · 21 July 2019 to 30 July 2019 ·

The Care Workers Charity presents 'Going the Extra Mile' a national day to celebrate those care workers and care teams that go the extra mile every day.

Story

There are 1.5 million care workers in the UK, contributing to one of the largest workforces, and caring for some of the most vulnerable people in our society. For the UK's care workers, early starts, long hours and mentally draining work are part and parcel of the job. As a result, it's all too easy for illness, or other unforeseen circumstances, to push them beyond their financial limits.

Having worked in the care industry for over a decade, I have experienced the dedication and selfless acts of colleagues who put others first in many circumstances because of their caring nature. I want to raise not only funds but also awareness of the high quality care that takes place in every 24 hours for millions of vulnerable people by professional care workers.
