When Marny was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer in March 2014, the rest of the year was knocked off balance. 6 months of intense and debilitating chemotherapy was followed by surgery, then long-term drug treatment and 15 sessions of radiotherapy.
With the help of the excellent staff and facilities of the Berkshire Cancer Centre, Marny is now approaching Christmas with the knowledge that her radiotherapy will be over by then.
Danny, our 10 year old rescue collie, and I will be walking the 87 miles of the Ridgeway in just 4 days, starting on Thursday, February 26th, 2015. We will finish on Sunday 1st March (St. David's Day).
This route has been used by mankind for 5000 years, but we've only made friends with it in the last two years since moving to West Berkshire.
I shall be carrying our food, water, tent and other equipment myself, picking up as little as possible along the way, other than donations of course!
Marny went through so much pain and suffering to fight off the cancer - putting myself through this gruelling walk is the least I can do to help someone else receive the same chance she's been given.
Please give generously, to help the Berkshire Cancer Centre carry on providing the high standard of care that Marny was given.
