#1DRedNoseWeek
For one week only, beginning the 17th March 2017 and ending on Red Nose Day, 24th March 2017, I'm asking fellow 1D fans to join me in raising money for Comic Relief.
For this project, I have teamed up with @Fayestardust, @1DCharityTeam, @NJHNEWS, @HSUpdating, @LouisT91Updates, @BestDailyHarry, @Official1DMex and @1DAdultFan. An additional page by @1DWorldScene contributed £40 which has been added as an offline donation.
It's been 4 years since the lads visited Ghana to see the work Comic Relief does in that country, as well as raising thousands of pounds for the charity through the release of their cover of One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks). Many of you will remember the heartbreaking videos of the boys visiting painfully ill children in a hospital, as well as other children desperately scavenging through rubbish to survive. They wanted us to make a difference and save lives.
Every two years, Comic Relief holds an appeal night in the UK called Red Nose Day, which is why the lads got involved. The next one in on the 24th March, 2017.
I believe we should take this opportunity to prove to Harry, Liam, Niall, Louis and Zayn that we still support the work Comic Relief does and show that their involvement has left a lasting impression. We can still make a difference today.
Comic Relief help people in many different countries and in many different ways. Two of the issues that they are focusing their appeal on this year are the fight against Malaria and Domestic Violence.
You can find out more about the charity appeal on www.rednoseday.com .
What could your money do? Here are some quotes from the Red Nose Day website:
£15 could pay for a diagnostic test for 50 people with malaria symptoms in Africa.
£25 could help someone in the UK who’s battling mental health issues, by providing a counselling session to learn coping strategies and set them on the road to recovery.
£30 could enable an isolated mum in the UK who is experiencing postnatal depression to attend a group therapy session.
£50 could provide two orphaned young farmers in Rwanda with all the seeds and equipment needed to grow high quality tomatoes and give them a sustainable income, or buy 20 mosquito nets which can protect children in Africa from contracting deadly malaria while they sleep.
£150 could help a young person in Kenya escape hazardous work and go to secondary school for a whole year.
