Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 17th September 2017 teams of elite triathletes will be competing in the Olympic Brighton and Hove triathlon. Alongside them 1COR (and Bishop and Light) will also be entering two teams......

The triathlon involves a 1.5km sea swim, a 40km bike ride and a 10km run. In order to give the other competitors a chance we have generously decided to compete as two relay teams each team comprised of three people. Each person completing one of the disciplines above.

We are raising money for the fantastic Oliver Fisher Trust. The OFT support the Neonatal unit at Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham. They do this by raising money to provide essential equipment needed to care for premature and sick babies. On average their work helps as many as 1000 of these babies every year.

As many reading this will know this cause is one which is particularly close to our hearts. Rebecca Upton and her husband Stuart spent almost three months at Medway hospital whilst their baby twins fought  for their lives. Happily that fight was, with the help of the hospital staff and the Oliver Fisher Trust,  a success and the whole family are now at home and doing well. If you need any further encouragement this is what Rebecca and Stuart have to say about their experience and the support they received from the OFT:

"The work performed by the great people there, without doubt, saved the lives of both our babies. They have had a very difficult start in life with many issues which the team at Oliver Fisher have dealt with magnificently, whilst demonstrating the most impressive and compassionate professionalism that I have ever encountered.   Incredibly, they rely heavily on charitable donations to buy essential equipment in order to continue to save the lives of sick babies Please help us help them, as we owe them everything."
