Story
Hi there!
On 9th January 2020 one of our beloved twin boys, Thomas, lost his fight after 19 days, after being born extremely premature at 23+3 weeks. From the moment my boys were born, Leo's has been a massive support to us, as a family. We can never thank Lottie and the team enough for everything, giving us support when we need it, having access to OT's, baby yoga, sensory rooms, private swimming time, baby massage, heart beat bears, support packs.. the list goes on.
We will always be in debt to Leo's forever 🦁
On 9th January we plan on walking the 5.1 miles to Thomas resting place from our home and back again (plus a few loops of the cemetry ) which equates to 19km. The more the merrier (if Boris allows it of course) 💙
Please see below for information about Leo's.
Leo's is a charity which supports the mental health, physical health and social well-being of families who have had a sick or premature baby in the North East of England. Our work spans across five neonatal units and in the community. We are a parent-led charity with extensive first-hand knowledge and experience of neonatal care, neonatal bereavement and paediatric care. Our board of trustees combines neonatal parents with NHS professionals and lay members to ensure we offer well-rounded provisions for families.Due to COVID-19 our families are increasingly isolated and the mental health of our parents / carers and siblings is hitting crisis point, the neonatal children we care for are struggling with their development, our families are in need now more than ever.A centre where families can access counselling, peer support, yoga, sign language, sensory sessions, educational sessions and a place to drop in, has never been more needed. Please help us.
