Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
The 150th Sheffield (Wadsley Church) Scout Group executive committee has taken the decision not to charge parents subs for the Summer 2020 term due to the Covid-19 crisis.
Why?
Many families are in difficult and uncertain financial times so we want to support those families by not collecting subs for this term.
What's the impact?
As a Scout Group and, in particular, a Group with its own building, we have overheads we still need to cover. This means we may have to dip into our reserves to meet these costs.
How can you help?
Although the Group has made arrangements to be able to cope without this term's subs, any donations we are able to collect in lieu would help a great deal. In order to continue to support the fantastic activities our leaders provide and development of the group, we would ask anyone who feels able to support us at this time, to make a donation.
We have set a target to raise 1/10 of this terms subs (£829.60).
More information
To give you some idea of our outgoing; our largest single outgoing each year is the capitation fee which we pay to our national HQ. This pays for loads of things including insurance, a safeguarding team, training for our volunteers, support for adventurous activity rules (e.g. canoeing) and much, much more. The cost is approximately £40 per young member for the year. When we compare this to our subs, you will note that this amount is over a third of annual subs. Although the Scout HQ are reducing their outgoings to their possible minimums, they still need to collect full membership fees for each young person to cover the vital services that they provide.
