Story

We are back for Christmas 2022! Welcome to our fundraising page.

This is the open to all fundraising page for the yearly fundraiser undertaken by more than one person, i.e. not just me, which is hopefully why you are here.

We also have a Facebook group for participants, so you can chat about your participation and how it's going, and also, so you can post or log your daily exploits if you so wish to inspire others.

The group is called : 12 Days of Christmas and Reflection

Here is the web address for it, just copy and paste it into your browser:

All money raised via the '12 Days of Christmas & Reflection'
now goes direct to CRISIS the homeless charity alone, to help those
less fortunate than ourselves at a particularly difficult time of year,
and helps CRISIS provide vital help and services at what will often be a cold, damp and miserable time of year outdoors on the streets etc.

The '12 Days of Christmas & Reflection' fundraiser was originally created in December 2016 as a charity fundraiser for members of the Run or Cake charity fundraising running group to participate in as an additional fundraising cause.

Run or Cake is a running group that raises money for multiple charities, and was created in 2014.

In 2017 the fundraising page was reopened and shared to family and friends of Run or Cake members, and has been shared almost yearly at Christmas in subsequent years.

The fundraising total shown is from Christmas 2017 onward, so doesn't include money raised in our first year in 2016 via Run or Cake.

How does is all work?

The idea is that you donate anything from 10p per day to one pound per day via this JustGiving page for each of the 12 days, and pledge to try and run, exercise, cycle or walk what ever distance you can for each of the 12 days of Christmas or as many as you can manage,  normally starting on Christmas Day.

You are free to move the start and finish date if you wish.

(Please note, the fundraising page will not accept less than one pound at a time, so I would suggest paying in one go).

You should try to use this time as a little you time, to reflect on all that you have, and all that you have had and hold dear and are thankful for at this time of year, especially after yet another year of Covid troubles.

If you have had troubles over the last year, think of how well you have done by getting through them, and the fact that you have been strong enough to continue.

Remember that to be able to move forward through a new door, you first have to let go of the handle of the previous door for it to close behind you, and for you to move forward.

Think of those around you that are dearest to you, or indeed those you miss if they are sadly no longer with us.

If the family and relatives are getting on your nerves occasionally this Christmas, and you really need a break from them for half an hour, get out and have a quick walk, run or cycle and have some me time and relax. Then reflect on how much worse it may be if you didn't have them in your life at all.

Think of those that may not be so fortunate to have what you have. Be it our health, welfare, a roof over our head, food on our table, family, friends or whatever it may be.

Christmas is a special time of year, and it is not all about what we can get out of it for ourselves. It is a time of year when we should reflect and help others.

Just being here this Christmas is a gift itself, and the greatest gift of all.

May we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your participation and hopefully donation to help those less fortunate than ourselves this Christmas and New Year.

God bless you all.

The fund-raising page pays the money direct to CRISIS the homeless charity. And even allows you to claim an additional 25% gift aid
for free on top of your donation if you are a taxpayer. If you pay tax,
please always tick the gift aid box, as it costs you nothing but adds a
chunk to the ongoing fundraising total.
