Story

I'm going to challenge myself for the whole of 2015 to raise money for Ben! Once a month, every month, I'm going to set myself a challenge! Events like runs, rides, firewalking & bungee jumps are just some suggested!!! My January challenge starts with The Muscle Acre 10k run. As I book them i'll add each months in. If you have any suggestions though please contact me! So if you could be so kind and sponsor me!! Any donation would be hugely appreciated by myself & Ben's family!

I'm fundraising for my little nephew. Ben is 6 years old and due to complications during his mother's pregnancy he has cerebral palsy. This condition causes tightness and spasticity in all four of his limbs, effecting head control, overall physical ability, eating, speech and so much more. The daily stretches we have to do with ben are painful and uncomfortable. Sitting unaided is difficult, commando crawling is done with maximum help & walking is something Ben would just love to be able to do unaided but can't.  He needs physio daily, to be put in equipment such as wheelchairs & standing frames to avoid him forming deformities as he's growing & needs help with feeding, drinking & all other daily tasks we all take for granted.

At the beginning of the year his parents, family & friends fundraised for an operation for Ben.  SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy) removes the spasticity in Ben's legs, therefore removing all the pain & enabling Ben to use his "normal" muscles. Together they raised the huge target of £60k & take Ben for the operation in St Louis in America in October 2014. They are so grateful to have been able to take Ben for this life changing operation!! It's giving Ben the pain free life he deserves and with lots of physio he will  be able to lead a more Independent life.

4-5 hours a week of post-op therapy is essential for Ben to reach his full potential from the surgery. This doesn't come cheap though and it's going to cost approximately £10k-£15k a year! Here's when I come into it! I would love to be able to raise money pennies towards Ben's post op therapy or to be able to fund some equipment for him to work on his strength & ability with! Each physio session costs £50 so I'd love to raise enough for 2 sessions a month for a year!

Ben is such a happy, hard-working, determined little boy but the restrictions he faces are very frustrating for him. He's so willing to work hard but his family need to ensure they can provide the therapy & equipment he so desperately needs but that isn't available on the nhs.
