10 Y Fan For Pat

10 Y Fan 2019 · 11 May 2019 ·
Thanks for visiting the “10 Y Fan for Pat” team fundraising page.
The 10 Y Fan challenge is a gruelling 1-day event, which (in short) involves climbing Pen Y Fan 10 times in one day! The team is made up of 1 elite athlete and 4 out of shape couch potatoes: James Williams (the athlete), James Green, Jack Bates, Gareth Mathias and Tom O’Brien (the couch potatoes).
For those who don't know about the land of sheep...Pen-Y-Fan is 2,907 ft tall, we're climbing that 10 times. To put that into perspective, Everest is 29,029 ft, so completing Pen-Y-Fan 10 times will be equivalent to scaling Everest!!
Now you know about the team and the size of the challenge, here's why we're doing it:
We've decided to take on the 10 Y Fan challenge to raise money for Pat Williams who sadly lost her battle with cancer this year. Pat was an extremely special lady and in memory of Pat we're hoping to raise money for 2 chosen charities.
1. Holibobs: The Holibobs Children’s Cancer Charity is dedicated to helping children diagnosed with Cancer or Leukemia spend precious time together as a family through the provision of short breaks and holidays.
Holibobs are linked with the 10 Y Fan challenge and part of the funds raised will be donated to this worthwhile cause.
2. Velindre Cancer Centre: Velindre Cancer Centre provides specialist cancer services to over 1.5 million people in South East Wales and beyond. Pat was one of those people who experienced incredible care at Velindre and we were keen to show our appreciation by raising funds for the centre.
So you’ve heard our plea, now it’s time to dig deep and watch us suffer!
