This year we will be fundraising for a new building which will be providing PBT treatment in London.The new centre is one of only two UK NHS hospitals to be selected to provide PBT (the second being in Manchester). The new Centre has been partly funded by the NHS. There is however a funding gap, which needs to be raised by private donations. Securing this funding is vital to create the appropriate patient environment that is essential for the wellbeing, dignity, comfort, and improved medical outcomes of these most poorly cancer patients.

The past walks have raised funds for UCH Ewing’s Sarcoma Research and Professor Jeremy Whelan’s Research into bone sarcomas and new forms of treatment. Initially, when Yuda was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma seventeen years ago, there were limited forms of treatment and options. At the time, we truly believed that with enough fundraising and medical advances, people with this diagnosis in the future would be able to live a higher quality of life and have access to medical treatments, which can prolong their original diagnosis. Professor Whelan’s dedication and determination to finding a cure to Ewing’s Sarcoma has inspired us over the years, and we wanted to do our part to help. With your help and so many others, we have raised an incredible £110,000 over the past nine years which has further developed what was initially an idea into new forms of treatment, including PBT, to clinical trials, to now a centre being built with state-of-the-art technologies and new treatments. This year we will be raising funds directly for the PBT centre. 

The new Centre will also treat patients with blood disorders including leukaemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. Many of these cancer patients will be receiving pioneering treatments and clinical trials including CART Cell immunotherapy. With severely compromised immune systems, these patients will be in hospital for six weeks or more, mostly in isolation which is why the funds to create a suitable environment is so crucial.

We are aiming to fundraise for patient rooms as it has been proved that with appropriate environments to live in whilst in isolation for the treatment, people’s recovery will be improved and more effective. 
As this will most likely be our last year fundraising for UCH we are going to try to raise as much as possible for this centre. We look forward to you joining us and thank you in advance for your genorisity.
