Story
Against our better judgment, we (Matt Littlestone, Dan Leff, Marc Schaller, James Swead and Jeremy Stone) have decided that on 12 June 2021, we will undertake the 10 Peaks Challenge in the Lake District for St Clare Hospice in Hastingwood, Essex.
In April 2020, having suffered from cancer for nearly two years, Matt's mum, Diane, was admitted to St Clare Hospice. During her two-week stay with them, they took such great care of her and made her final days as comfortable as possible.
St Clare Hospice is a local charity which cares for people across West Essex and the East Hertfordshire border. They provide free, compassionate care and support to adults with life-limiting illnesses, their families and carers.
It also relies to a great extent on fundraising and donations. With this in mind, and so that others can continue to benefit from the great work that they do, we have decided that the 10 Peaks Challenge is a great way to raise as much money as possible for them.
It seemed like a good idea at the time but as our guide has informed us: "It's a tough day if you're used to fell walking. It's a very tough day if you're not used to fell walking."
What is "fell walking"?
