Story

Please follow the cycle on the blog to keep up with the progress of the challenge!

On August 25th a team of cyclists will cycle 1,039 miles, from Land’s End to John O’Groats in aid of The Ireland Fund of Great Britain’s Forgotten Irish Campaign. Headed by Bernard McEvoy and Neill Shrimpton, partners at Brown Rudnick and members of the British Irish Chamber of Commerce, the team includes Gerald Byrne and Ben Williams (both also from Brown Rudnick), Kenneth Dalby (from AIB Glasgow) Ercus Stewart, and Matt Hoyle.

On why they want to support the Forgotten Irish Bernard says that "having watched a number of programmes on the Forgotten Irish I was and am always moved by the conditions that some Irish people are living in. A number of close relations of my parents came to the UK in the 50's and 60's. For those who have been 'forgotten' I believe we, as a nation, owe them something better."

The cycle will take 10 days and the teams will stop in at Irish centres along the way. Most notably on Sunday September 1 the team will enter Glasgow where celebrations will take place.

With the support of The Ireland Fund of Great Britain and the British Irish Chamber of Commerce of Ireland they hope to raise significantly more money for the Forgotten Irish campaign. Please show your support by giving generously.
