Chester Ultra 100 · 18 May 2019
I've been wanting to enter a 100 mile race since running 100km last summer. The thought of running an extra 63km at the end of that race seems a wee bit scary. Physically my legs were shattered, but mentally I was done and ready for a beer!
Six months on and I've found a race and decided to give the 100 miles thing a crack! The race starts and finishes in Chester, and I've set two targets. The first one is to simply finish the race, and the second one is to try and finish it in under 24 hours.
Since so many of you kindly donated well over £2000 last year, I wasn't going to run for any charities this year, but I've changed my mind. Even if a little cash gets raised, its better than nothing, and it is great motivation to finish a race.
850,000 people are living with Dementia in the UK, and this number is rising every year. Someone close to me is affected by the illness, and I'm sure people reading this will know someone affected.
Although the main reason I am running 100 miles is to just see if I can finish the thing. I am also going to try and raise a bit of cash for The Alzheimer's Society along the way.
