Story
In March 2011 a team of QlikTech employees went to Malawi to visit HOPEHIV projects and came back to the company telling their story. As a result, QlikTech offered to implement QlikView, its Business Intelligence platform, at HOPEHIV for free, radically helping improve the efficiency and accuracy of our fundraising activities.
In June 2011, another set of QlikTech cyclists undertook the Vätternrundan cycle ride for HOPEHIV and by September, Peter McQuade (QlikTech VP Alliances and Partner Sales) had organised HOPEHIV’s very own cycling event – the London to Hayling Island Bike Ride. Recruiting 70 cyclists and raising £34,000 in its first year, this has quickly become our biggest annual fundraising event. Not long after, six QlikTech cyclists rode 510km in Malawi to raise awareness of HOPEHIV and visited some of our projects along the way.
In January 2012, an invitation to get involved was given to all 1,000 employees when CEO, Lars Björk, set the 1010 Challenge at their annual global summit. Their response saw countless events, challenges and activities taking place across the world, from the impressive to the insane, raising an incredible £100,000 for our work. At 2013’s global summit, following a report from a QlikTech visit to our projects in Uganda, employees were encouraged to take on their greatest challenges for HOPEHIV, with the CEO offering to match any funds raised.
Touched by the huge impact that our action can make in Africa, We (Renato Rossi and Caique Zaniolo) decided to get out of our comfortable home office chairs and raise some money by riding our bikes in a challenging 100km professional mountain bike race, the "Desafio dos Rochas" in April 13, 2014.
It will be a real challenge for us. We started preparation from scratch. None of us had an active lifestyle. So we bought bikes and we are trying to fit the training into our busy and tight working and traveling schedules.
