Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are a group of football fans (mainly Walsall FC) who are attempting to walk 106.217km in 30 hours or less, in order to raise vital funds for Acorns Children's Hospice Trust to allow them to continue to provide amazing care and services to the children and their families who require it.
106.217km equates to 66 miles exactly, hence the 'Route 66'.
The 30 hour target comes from another charity event called 'Trailwalker' that is being held on the same weekend, however logistically and commitment-wise it would have been difficult to manage, so we've decided to raise money for Acorns and go a little bit further for them with the same time restriction!
We will be setting off from Acorns Walsall on Saturday 25th September (time TBC) and walking to the other two Acorns sites (Selly Oak & Worcester) before finishing back up at Acorns Walsall on Sunday 26th September. We will have 30 hours to complete the course. The route is just under the full 66 miles, so we will ensure the extra bit is done before we get back to Acorns Walsall to finish!
Please, please donate to the cause if you can as it is for such an amazing organisation. If you would like to offer any other assistance with the challenge or perhaps join us on the walk yourself then please make contact through this page (ensure you leave your contact details otherwise we can't make contact).
We are a team of four - Rob Harvey (me), Steve Porter, Dave Ball, and Lewis Crawford.
Proof of the walk will be provided via live updates on Twitter, and also via tracking on Strava.
We will be leaving Acorns Walsall Hospice between 5:30pm and 6pm on Saturday 25th September and the 30 hours to complete will start counting down as soon as we set off!
It’s going to be demanding and it’s going to be a bit of a grueller for us all, but with your donations it makes us even more determined to see it through to completion.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
